The Best of Times are.... NOW!

The Best of Times Nostalgia Drag Racing Association was formed to assist in preserving the history of drag racing.

Merry Christmas! Just want to wish the members of Best of Times a Merry Christmas and a happy new year. That goes for all of you who have made it to the new website and haven't joined up yet.

Much discussion about the new year has gone on in the last month. Dates for events are being tossed about, and plans for meetings are being discussed. JD and I have discussed revamping membership fees. Your feedback would be welcome. We have also discussed including the Junior Dragster crowd in the events that we put on. I have some good feelings about including the kids, sort of a mentoring situation.

A merry Christmas to all. I hope that you all enjoy the holidays, eat big, drink responsibly, and dream of racing next year. If you get a chance, look thru your old pictures, learn how to scan (we could all stand a new skill for the new year), and send them to us. Be safe 'til the next time.

Thanks for visiting the Best of Times Nostalgia Drag Racing Association's new web site. I know that this has been a long time in coming. I would sincerely like to thank Bill Pratt, who after listening to my whining and complaining, agreed to take on this task for the group. I would also like to thank Don Manlove for his help in securing our space on the web.

2011 has been a growth year for BOT. We put on events at Virginia Motorsports Park and Northeast Dragway. Members also put on a good showing at MIR, Old Dominion, and Sumerduck. We have a full slate of officers, several new board members, and have been conducting a monthly meeting. Preparations are being made for officer elections via the U.S. Mail. If you are interested in becoming more involved and would be interested in an office, please contact myself or J.D. Be prepared to invest some time, as officers will be expected to attend meetings, events, and help when needed.

We hope that you will make the BOT website a favorite and return often. We plan on there being pictures and maybe some video, both from events and from the history we all so fondly remember. This will be the place that we pass on news about the group, meetings, events, and anything else that might be of interest. You will also be subjected to my ramblings, as I blog about my travels to different events and the state of drag racing as a whole. We welcome advertising here. Contact me if you are interested.

I am writing this during my return flight from California. I attended the Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield, the NHRA event in Las Vegas, the SEMA show, and the NHRA World Finals.

Always feel free to contact me. I am very concerned about what the members want from their association with this group. I would also love to hear ideas about new events, getting new members, and raising operational funds. Never hesitate to find me by phone, email, or even FB.

Thanks for reading this. Here's to a happy holiday next week. I'll be in touch. - Steve LeSueur
